The Senate passed S510, the “Food Safety Bill”, late Sunday night using unanimous consent – even though hardly any senators were present. And no record of vote was taken. They attached the bill to , of all things, the “Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act”, (HR 2751) a completely unrelated bill. This is unacceptable!

The bill now goes back to the House for approval and could be voted on Tuesday. Please contact your Representative NOW and urge opposition to this dangerous bill. This bill can still be stopped. Thousands of calls have been registered in opposition to this bill, thanks to you and thousands of other health freedom lovers. The House must suspend House rules to approve this bill. Ask your Representative to vote NO on suspension of the House rules and vote NO on passage of HR 2751 with S510 attached. This bill will give the FDA way too much power over the growth and production of our food. Under current law, if an FDA inspector “has credible evidence or information” that something in a food facility “presents a threat of serious adverse health consequences or death to humans or animals,” the inspector may prohibit the sale of that item. But if this bill passes, the FDA will be given the power to detain any product if he or she “has reason to believe that such article is adulterated or misbranded.” What is adulterated? Well, the FDA can interpret “adulterated” to mean record-keeping violations! And what is misbranded” FDA uses that when a producer makes claims about their product. Even if their claims are completely true and substantiated, but do not have FDA permission to make that claim, their products can be detained. This is a dangerous bill and needs to be stopped.
