In 1962, President Lyndon B. Johnson in a graduation speech at Southwest Texas State University famously laid out a plan for exploration in space, which contained “the development of a weather satellite that will permit man to determine the world’s cloud layer and ultimately to control the weather; and he who controls the weather will control the world.” He went on to say that “[f]rom space, the masters of infinity would have the power to control the earth’s weather, to cause drought and flood, to change the tides and raise the levels of the sea, to divert the gulf stream and change temperate climates to frigid.”
In the past twenty years, more and more people worldwide are looking up at the lines and patterns in the sky and wondering whether these lines are simply “contrails” or whether they are something more sinister. The jet trails that we are told are contrails do not behave as contrails would; they do not disappear into the ether but rather often widen and become a dirty-looking unnatural cloud layer that fills the sky. These trails are turned on and off, are laid in patterns and ways that are incompatible with airline flight patterns. Many also believe that since jet engines have changed from water-vapor injection engines to high bypass turbofan engines, these engines cannot create contrails any longer from water droplets.
A peek into what is called “weather modification” shows patents and experimentation with Johnson’s “weather satellites;” including shortly after his speech with the military operation in Vietnam, called “Operation Popeye,” where the military used this technology to rain out the Ho Chi Minh Trail and other places to disrupt supply chains by causing landslides. The airplanes used cloud seeding methods with silver iodide or lead iodide and then steered these clouds with the radiation producing weather satellites to cause rain where the military wanted rain. This was a CIA project done without the knowledge of the then Secretary of Defense, Melvin Laird, who, when questioned by Congress, denied that military weather modification programs existed. This denial continues today.
There are other indications that large scale planetary geoengineering is occurring for military reasons, done by military tanker airplanes. This includes the 1996 Air Force document “Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025” and “A Recommended National Program in Weather Modification” by Homer E. Newell.
Activists, seeing the dirty trails in the sky and testing our rainwater for toxins labeled these trails as “chemtrails,” a term that has been called a “conspiracy theory.” The more scientific terms, geoengineering, or “solar radiation management” will bring up a great deal of scientific literature. Geoengineering is defined by Britannica as “the large-scale manipulation of a specific process central to controlling Earth’s climate for the purpose of obtaining a specific benefit.”
State laws have now been passed banning geoengineering for climate modification. Tennessee was the first state to pass such legislation, which was signed into law on April 11, 2024. In the past two years, another at least 28 states have introduced bills prohibiting climate geoengineering often as a clean air bill, and many of these bills have passed one chamber. There are other states with laws already on the books that are pro-geoengineering, or allow it with a permitting or licensing process. Activists often send precipitation testing along with requests for legislators to introduce bills, which show high levels of geoengineering particulates like aluminum, barium, and strontium in our rain and our snow.
The current head of the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Lee Zeldin, has embraced action against the “open” small scale geoengineering done by private companies like Make Sunsets instead of exploring the large scale geoengineering that appears to be perpetrated by our own military. Climate activist and founder of www.geoengineeringwatch.org Dane Wigington sees the action by the EPA differently, questioning whether it is possibly EPA’s “attempt to distract the public from the global climate engineering Manhatten Project that continues to rage on in our skies.”
What was once a subject that could not even be discussed in polite company without ridicule and immediate shut down of the topic as a “conspiracy theory” is now more open to conversation. The pollution in our skies from these trails and the high levels of radiation needed to move these “clouds” are a health hazard not only for us but for all of the environment, from the trees to the insects to the birds and fish.
The bright light of transparency in government should shine on all weather modification programs past and present. We the People have the right to know what our government and our military is doing with weather modification programs.
