The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking input on electromagnetic field emissions, in particular wireless radiation, and how it affects human health and the environment. HHS posted a Request for Information, which provides an unprecedented opportunity for the public to comment with concerns and information. The public comment period runs from September 21, 2026 to October 21, 2026.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set guidelines in 1996 that limit the intensity levels of wireless radiation allowed in the United States. Even in 1996, there were thousands of scientific studies showing harm at levels below those set in the guidelines. The FCC safety guidelines are among the most unprotective levels in the world. Since 1996, when the FCC guidelines were set, they have not been updated, even though the amount of wireless radiation in our environment is much higher. The FCC has failed to comply with court orders and other measures to get it to actually review the current state of biological science and create protective standards.

HHS, which includes important health agencies such as FDA, CDC and NIH, seems more genuinely open to taking the issue of toxic impacts from wireless radiation seriously. Therefore, the opening of an HHS docket for public and professional comment is an opportunity to feed data and comments to a federal agency that will likely take the scientific information more seriously. HHS can issue a public call for better exposure guidelines and a stronger overall stance for protecting public health. Even though HHS cannot directly force the FCC to tighten the allowable radiation limits, comments submitted to the HHS docket can create greater public and media awareness and perhaps push the FCC to make the changes in its guidelines and policies that are long overdue

See instructions and sample comments below.

  1. If you have been injured by wireless radiation, or know someone who has, you can write a personal comment about that in the box under the word Comment.

  1. But it does not matter if you have been personally affected; you can comment with scientific studies, other scientific or medical evidence, any concerns you have, or any information HHS may need to address the enormous increase in exposure to wireless radiation. If you like, there is information below that can be copy/pasted into the comment section. There is room to attach up to 20 files.

  1. To finish submitting the comment, enter your email, then select whether you are an individual, a business, or wish to keep your name anonymous. Fill in your organization information if necessary, then check the box to confirm that you are not a robot, and then click Submit Comment.

  1. Comments on this notice must be received no later than October 21, 2026.

If you like, use these Sample Comments for ideas or cut and paste what is applicable to you:

  • I am submitting this comment as someone concerned about the health effects of wireless radiation as well as the effects on the environment.

  • I have been personally affected by wireless radiation, (explain when, and how, and what the effects are or were, explain how you were treated by medical professionals, schools, or a job, what helped you and what did not).

  • I know someone who has been personally affected by wireless radiation, (explain who and explain what you know about their struggle).

  • I am a healthcare professional, researcher, concerned member of the public, or other who has knowledge, experience, research, or other that applies to the area of the health or environmental effects of wireless radiation. (Explain what you may know about this area, and how it affects your patients, or what you see for the future of the environment or of health).

  • I hope that HHS will use this opportunity to create a comprehensive report on the current medical, biological, and public health knowledge regarding these effects and take action on that. Please consider the experiences of those affected by this radiation as part of what is reviewed to come up with what should be the scientific underpinnings to actual protective standards and action by the federal government.
